Baby doll

Popo got Callie a baby doll and it's the first toy that Callie has a connection to. She'll carry it around and point to parts of her body and will give it hugs and kisses.

So sweet!

Callie likes....

Now that Callie's been pointing, we've been letting her make lots of choices. Usually the choices involve food (eg broccoli or porridge etc). You find out lots of interesting things that way. Tonight I found out she likes string cheese almost just as much as potstickers, etc.

Tonight I let her choose what pajamas and sleep sack she wanted to wear. And which book to read for bedtime. She chose her candy cane striped pj's (over Minnie Mouse) and the orange sleep sack over her thick black sleep sack and apparently, good night moon is not a big hit with her. The funny thing is that normally it's a struggle trying to get her in her ph's, but once I let her choose and handed them to her, she then proceeded to try and put them on over her head! I clapped and said good job! And she just sat with them on her head for a good few minutes... I think she really thought she put them on right! Lol! Callie cracks me up. <3 <3 <3

Music class

Today we went to music class and Callie had a great time. The Lewis academy in moorpark had some cute programs for tots. They even sang Callie Happy Birthday! She (and mommy) had a wonderful time playing with bells, pipes and drums! Daddy and mommy went our later that evening to an adults only wedding for Byung and Eunice. It was nice having adult time but we kept thinking of Callie the whole time. Daddy especially, who teared up when the bride hugged her daddy! He even had to turn away during the daughter daddy dance!

Callie's chair

Callie is digging her new chair. It's a pottery barn anywhere chair from auntie Esther and auntie van. She had another chair previously, but doesn't know how to back into and it down on it. Her new chair is bigger and let's her climb up, then turn around and sit down. Pretty neat to see her climb in and chillax. She doesn't stay I. It for long though - too busy running around!

Callie is One!

Callie is one today! We celebrated with mommy and daddy taking time off work and taking Callie to the local park. She went on the swings, down the slides and practiced her walking on the grass (she'll pick up quite a bit of momentum in the slopes! Watch out!) She also played with lots of dried leaves. Callie definitely is more of an observer when introduced to unfamiliar situations - we love watching her brain work!

Afterwards, we celebrated with a cookies and cream ice cream cake! Callie is definitely a fan of ice cream - I've never seen her sign "more" so much and cry after we took the food away! She also had a dinner of her favorite food - potstickers!

I can't believe it's already been a year... We spent 2.5 hrs of it together with her sleeping in my arms for her afternoon nap. She's growing so quickly and developing so fast that I don't know how much longer we'll have quiet times together like these. She's already trying to communicate with us using her pointing and can point to objects in books by name. She's been playing with her baby dolls and will feed them a bottle and help me change pooh bear's diapers. I can tell already she's a very nurturing soul (she always offers to brush mommy and daddy's teeth first during bath time) and will grow up to be mommy's little helper. I can't wait to see what kind of person she'll become - but I also don't want to let my baby girl go... *teardrop*. Mommy and daddy love you Callie! We are so proud of you!

Poor Callie

Callie's been battling her first cold for a week now... And it couldn't have come at a worse time! Her birthday party is today! Not being able to breathe through her runny nose is driving her nuts. (And mommy and daddy exhausted with 3-4hr sleep nights). Poor baby will have to sit on the sidelines and away from all the guests while all her friends get to play!

She still has a fascination with the decal above her crib though! And will take the time to point it out! Then back to crying!

Pointy finger

Callie's latest thing is to point! Boy does she like to point! Sometimes I've noticed though that her aim is a little off! Her eyes are looking at one thing but her finger is pointed at something next to it! So you have look at what she's looking at before responding! Lol! Her favorite things to point at - the bird toy at popo's house, the tree wall decal above her bed, the penguin Christmas stocking and her Halloween ghost foot print! The pointing is interesting when we use it to let her choose the food she wants to eat! She prefers eggplant parmigiana over chicken and chicken over broccoli! :)

Callie's first school picture!

She looks so grown up here - at 10.5 months! Pic was taken Nov 2nd and Callie was only moderately amused at daddy's attempts to get her to smile!

Bad hair cut...

Callie's hair has been all over her face and its been driving mommy nuts! Poor Callie must be so annoyed with all that hair covering her eyes even though she doesn't act it. No one told mommy it was so hard to cut hair on a moving toddler!

Soccer star!

Callie is so funny! She is getting such a kick out of walking! She loves to pick up things and walk dragging things around and intentionally walks around to kick things on the floor. So much fun watching her!

Also, a few more pics from recent days!

Walking machine...

Callie is a walking machine! It really literally happened overnight! She was taking a few steps here and there - and then whoop! Just like that she's walking everywhere now! During thanksgiving dinner she was walking pushing a kiddie chair around - then she picked up the chair and would walk around with the chair in her hands! Kid decides to go 0 to 60! Didn't catch the pic... We've been bad with pics lately - more so bc I think our hands are more watching her in case she falls! So instead here is a pic with her and a toy parrot which ended up scaring her! But oh boy - now it's really time to baby proof!

First time sick!

Callie was sick all last week with roseola! Considering she was just turning 11 months at this time, were actually really fortunate! She had a fever of 102+F and was a zombie all weekend. Luckily, most of our friends babies had gone through this a few months ago so we weren't too worried. But watching your baby miserable is way worse than being sick yourself. Callie was a real trooper though - still managed to give us some smiles throughout. :)

Maui recap part II

Our 2013 family maui trip was pretty jam packed! Here are more highlights:

Thursday: We started the day hanging out at Makena landing beach! Beautiful large beach with plenty if shade! We had plenty of beach chairs and everyone got to enjoy themselves! Callie got to see the ocean and mommy let her wet her feet with the waves. Unfortunately, Callie was a little spooked and whimpered in protest. Bah! What a baby! ;) We took cruised around in a glass bottomed kayak and were able to spot a few sea turtles in turtle town. The uncles and Mike got a little wet with some water gun action and mikes dad even joined in on the fun! Afterwards, we picked up sandwiches at 808 deli (yummers!) and relaxed at the condo before heading out for the luau at the grand wailea. I was so proud if the Costco discount and we enjoyed ourselves! AUCE/AYCD - what more can you ask for ?

Maui recap

Hawaii was a lot of fun! But boy is traveling different with a baby! Here's a recap of our 5 nights in Wailea's Ho'olei resort!
Tuesday: flight with first class upgrades for David and Popo! But still can't beat private cabin experience in back of plane. Baby rental place was disappointing! Forgot about our order - but that's ok, enterprise hook up with large 8 passenger SUV and freer 1 day car seat rental hookup! Ends with humongous loco moco plate in da kitchen and luxurious digs. Bath tub ceiling faucet. Need I say more?

Wednesday : Early start with a drive to the lavender farm with our personal tour guide , Gypsy! (Do the Shaka Mike!) No lavender blooms - but free lavender tea samples make up for it. Culinary organic farm tour at o'o farms with interesting factoids (no compost tea is not for drinking), with gourmet lunch surprise guest - Mr. Fat spider! Farm to table should really be changed to farm to sink to table? 10,000 ft pic at Haleakala is windy, cloudy and chilly! Ended with a nice BBQ dinner in the patio over looking the ocean....
