Newest Sleep Solution (take #3)

I realize that we have a new sleep solution every few days - but that's because they only last a few days each! Lol! We are still playing baby jenga with stacks of pillows and blankets - but sleeping through the night only lasted that one time (10pm to 6am) - but boy was it amazing! I still get teary eyed thinking about that! Callie has been falling asleep around 9-10pm and waking around 2am for a feed, then again at 6-7am. Our latest sleep solution doesn't extend her sleep times, but it definitely saves our arms and backs from exhaustion! Presenting... The munchkin sound machine! We actually just use the projector on this bad boy - which was given to us by Mike's cousin Sam. Callie will stare at it while drowsy and put herself to sleep! No need for mommy and daddy to bounce on a yoga ball for an hour and walking on eggshells perfecting our transfer technique in getting her down on her bed! Woot woot! We also blast the white noise from a iPhone app called Relax.. It's the only white noise that Callie responds to (so funny how she's particular like that!
Kind of cracks me up how our nights have changed post-baby. Mike and I sit in the dark with earplugs on in a room that sounds like a thunderstorm texting each other in the same room if we need communicate, TV is on silent with captions (if on at all), and no more bedtime cuddling now that Callie's in bed with us - all of this starts at 8:30pm! And if either one of us coughs-you can expect some death stares coming your way! No waking baby!! That's our number one priority! Lol!

Daddy is such a funny guy. It's pretty obvious to everyone that he adores Callie! He practices self-restraint everyday from posting too many baby pics. We joke that there must be so many people subscribing to his feed. I tell him he has to either post pictures with funny captions or poses - here is some of his best work...

Newest sleep solution!

So for those that don't know - Callie has not been the best sleeper😓. She's not quite keen on the swaddle (fights it til she turns red in the face and screams like crazy), doesn't use a paci (seems like she forgot how to suck and just moves it around her mouth) and doesn't care much for the swing (doesn't do anything for her). So her sleepless parents have been desperate for a sleep solution - and we may have found it! 👏👏👏

It's pillow stacking! We just throw all sorts of stuff on her (blankets, throws, pillows) and the weight of it seems to help make her feel secure enough to sleep! We also have her in a woombie, which is supposed to mimic the womb and keeps her snuggly swaddled vs a miracle blanket which keeps her arms unnaturally at her sides.

Day 1 results: ...can't remember 😔
Day 2 results: 9pm-2am
Day 3 results: 10pm-5am+ (Callie is still sleeping and going strong!!)

I hope I'm not jinxing things, but I hope this keeps up! I don't even know what to do with myself! I'm up at 5am blogging because I'm not used to sleeping so much!! I'm in heaven!!

Happy baby

Callie is such a sweet happy baby! Not all the time - definitely not at BRUS today (she screamed inconsolably.. Even the toddlers in the store were looking at me and feeling bad for us! Lol). But when she smiles - you just can't help but smile back and feel so happy.

Tonight Mike said Callie's eyebrows are starting to grow in and said she looks like a panda bear. I asked him what that means... He says - "Round and cuddly wuddly!". I would have to agree! :)

Today Callie brought her little baby hands together.. Which is supposed to be a developmental milestone.. Her little hands are so cute...

The Year of the Snake!

Callie had her first Chinese New Year today! She slept through most of it though in the car seat while visiting Great-grandma and Zoe! But we caught her right before she fell asleep to pose with the ginormous gold nugget that comes out every Chinese New Year!

Baby whisperer...

Mike's mom is amazing with Callie... I don't know how she does it! Callie is usually screaming in my arms (despite the yoga ball, bouncing, bad singing...). She says her secret is singing Chiu Chow opera... Well, unfortunately that's not something I can do!! The best I can muster is maybe some snoop dog Callie-fornia Love.. Which seems to have no effect on her wails! Doh!!

Another first for Callie! She's already got such a good sense of humor - she decided to shoot vomit all over daddy's face! Oh the laughs that ensued!!

First Blog Post - Introducing Callie Mingyee Ing!

Callie Mingyee Ing is exactly 7 weeks and 1 day new today!  Time really flies and she's already grown up so much. Every time I look at her old pictures it makes me teary-eyed.. they really do grow up so fast!  Every moment is so precious so we're hoping to capture our family memories on this blog!
