This past weekend, we celebrated Chinese New Year. It is 2017 and the year of the Rooster! We celebrated by going to Rosemead and hanging out with family. As in usual form, Daddy (Mike) played card games with his cousins. The kids did a parade with a Chinese Lion (with Chinese New Year Music) and also played some dice games with quarters and money. Callie and her cousins also played Candy Land! Uncle Lawrence wanted to play with Callie, but Callie did not want to look at him. (But Callie did say she liked him, she just didn't want to look at him.) Uncle Lawrence was very disappointed. He tried to win her affections by giving her a toy kitchen. It did not work. We ate pizza, egg rolls and Auntie Yen gave out lots and lots of candy and snacks. Callie was on cloud 9! Mommy was super excited because she was finally able to use her chicken purse that had been sitting in her closet for over 5 years.
Kelsey turned 5 months this weekend. We made sure to put a bow on her head for pictures so that no one would mistake her for a boy. Isn't she cute? She is starting to get better at sitting up (like a tripod).
We also celebrated Chinese New Year by writing new year wishes on red paper with a brush. Callie learned all sorts of CNY sayings in Chinese. Gong gong and Nai Nai were so happy to hear Callie talk in Chinese and to hear her say such nice things - like... Luhng Ma Jing Sun (dragon horse spirit awake) - meaning that We wish you to have the energy and spirit of a Dragon and Horse! She also said - Gong Hai Fat Choi! Sum Sern Seee Sing - We wish all your heart's desires come true! She even wrote the chinese character for Heart all by herself, in blue paint! We are so proud of her, and most of all, Callie must be so proud of herself. Look at that proud smile!
