Callie turned 6 this year on a Monday when I volunteer in the classroom. It was nice to get to celebrate with her and her teacher and classmates!
I also got to pick up the poem she wrote, which was featured in the school's literary magazine.
Everybody - by Callie Ing
To everybody, like my book? Just kidding.
Everybody is different.
You and me.
But we are also same.
You and me.
We have same skin sometimes.
We are different.
You and me.
Naya's mom said it reminded her of Maya Angelou's poem - the Human Family. I read that poem to Callie and it was the perfect way of introducing MA's work to her! Callie was beaming!
In Ms.Tina's class, they go through each year of the birthday child and talk about what they were doing and want to learn for the upcoming year. Then they end with a chair raise with the kids and parents helping. Look at that smile!
Callie and her friend Adelaide. They do gymnastics in class and Adelaide is teaching Callie how to do a cartwheel.
For Callie's birthday, she wanted to do mommy and Callie spa day instead of a pedicure at the nail salon. I was up for that! We dipped her hair in water, used aromatherapy, had a little massage, did her nails at home and finished with a sheet mask. Look at that glow! =)
Then we headed out to Funbox, which is a pop up out at the TO mall, with the whole family! They handed out little teddy bears to the kids.
Even the grandparents got in on the fun!
Happy birthday Callie. We love you. More than you will ever know.
